Sometimes its hard to come up with ideas, but writing the journals is kinda fun. I'm glad you enjoy them.
I'm trying to come up with a story dealing with the Orphans, and the people working in my shop too... but I haven't had any good ideas (or time to write).

1400 Tournament
Well, it's time for another Tournament. While this year's contestants won't be able to hold a light quartz to last year's entrants (smirk); it is always fun to watch. Knowing that the Tournament is coming up, and having a man on the inside this year; Mal, War and I set about to conduct a little reconnaissance this year.
We talked to Orek to find out in which tent they would be holding the interviews this year. Using that knowledge and a little mystic illusion, we were able to hide near the tent, with the bottom turned up to listen to the various prospective candidates' answers to the Captain's questions. While, I don't doubt War's magical abilities, I think I saw some hint of a smirk from Captain Ironside while they were conducting the interviews. We heard some great answers and some good answers... and a few horrible answers - I'm looking at you Verdants. We were quite surprised at the Windlings' ability to cogently argue such difficult topics. I was personally surprised that more of them didn't make it.
Following the posting of the List; I was inundated with many requests for advice - which I freely gave. But, for the Windlings, I knew they would need a bit more. So, I carved out some time from the Hospital to hold some training sessions for them. I don't know how much practice they had fighting a "big" before; but I gave them as much as I could before their first engagement.
The Tournament was fun as always to watch. The feints, the parries, the deftly delivered strikes; all while having to contend with the environment. It was great. It was even better having competed. It's one thing theorizing about what it would be like, or what each opponent should do; it is quite another to be the one down there sweating it out and feeling the blows. The Windling made it quite far, I hope he found my advice useful. I just wish that he had been able to move the Mountain. Obsidemen are tough, patient opponents; and Windlings aren't (generally) good with the patience.
Aside from the spectacles that happened in the Arena; I kept seeing glimpses of an Elf who seemed to have features that I'd seen somewhere before. Although, every time I would try to get to him through the crowd; he'd vanish in the throng of people. I think I saw a glimpse of his eyes, and they look just like what I see in the mirror when I shave. This will require further investigation.
