Although, really one of our more spectacular battles was battling cadavermen that were being thrown across the chasm by a troll(?), which is more recent than that... Roll #1: Charisma step 6 plus melee weapons 4 plus acting rank 2, so step 12 rolls: d10e + d10e => 5 + 11 = 16 Roll #2: My half-magic applies to this, so step 8. rolls: d6e + d6e => 9 + 4 = 13 Roll #3: My response to the fake Troll and Blood Guards will be to make them cooperate with our plan by casting Mind Fog on each of them in turn. This spell makes them forget what they're doing for a few rounds. I'll impov lines about the blood guards being so useless, they can't even remember how to fight! So I'm using spellcasting, plus acting, so step 12: rolls: d10e + d10e => 6 + 9 = 15 Ah, well, the first horde of Cadaver men is more well known and lets us make the blood guard look bad, the second horde wasn't as well known and isn't as exciting of a story. Also, might be good to play down the three people we brought into the Kaer, just in case! First test is successful, the audience enjoys it! Second Test: It's Kam, Reginald Hightower and Elias :-). Third Test: Success! Also, their tests become poor, poor, and Good with a TN of 14. So it's 2 for them (poor (0), poor (0), and good (+2) And 2 for us (average (+1), Average (+1). Pressure on Mes! Assuming that Maw lets me know (or that I wasn't abel to figure it out), we change the script a bit. To the Crowd: "Just think that this epic battle wouldn't have even come to this if that blind fool Elias hadn't been afraid to look into Astral Space. That coward of a Nethermancer was too terrified to look for signs of corruption... and due to his stupidity, arrogance, and cowardice we are stuck fighting this battle." And as aside to Maw, "Can you use Taunt to show what a coward E. Verdant is... use your booming voice so the whole crowd can hear it?"

Sorry for the delayed posts. Contractors are finally in to do the work that needs to be done... and the MCPON showed up yesterday.
So, needless to say, its pretty busy at work... which means that it'll be pretty slow on the boards until work slows a bit.

And as aside to Maw, "Can you use Taunt to show what a coward E. Verdant is... use your booming voice so the whole crowd can hear it?" Is it magical illusion that is diguising E. Verdant and R. Hightower? (I'm going to assume that Maw will let Mes know if it is...) Then when the performance has ended. Whether or not we were able to succeed at making the Blood Guard look bad, swap and cast Dispel Magic on Kam the Troll. Then with his true identy readily viewable to the crowd: "See, sometimes the Blood Guard forgets who they are fighting for..." (Well, hopefully Maw can come up with something more clever than that to say) Threadweaving (reattuning) - step 11: d10d8 (8,5) = 13 Threadweaving - step 11: d10d8 (2,4) = 6 (Success) Spellcasting - step 11: d10d8 (5,1) = 6 (Success) Effect Test - step 7: d12 (12+3) = 15 ( I don't know...)

Success! You succeed in your goal of making the Guard look good, you look good, and the Blood Guard look bad. You also manage to dispel the illusion on Kam, demonstrating you're well aware of what they tried to do. He might look a little sheepish. All 3 will immediately/promptly leave.
Kam and Hightower are not actually members of the Blood Guard. Elias is an apprentice in the ranks who just happens to have a lot of unofficial clout.

[glow=red,2,300]Day 2![/glow]
Mes sets up a series of shows. 'Crafting' some potions and then pouring them from one to another to have different colors and effects appear.
But, not just focus on colors and explosive effects, try to go for tastes that change in the mouth as you are drinking the liquid.
--> Mes's shows are quite popular, especially when the Orphans spread the word :-). Much oohing and awwing.
Elsewhere, Mal will use his self-forged hammer to show it off to and demonstrate his skills by making small trinkets and decorating other people's weapons with his rune carving skill. Generally just being relaxed and chatting with other similar craftsmen.

[glow=red,2,300]Day 3![/glow]
Kaz Will:
Use You Got Me and Tailor to disguise myself as either one of my brothers or one of our friends and acquaintances, and hang around with that person. Challenge onlookers to figure out who is the REAL [whoever], then once a crowd has gathered and interacted with us, have them take a vote. I'll then use You Got Me again to reveal that I'm the fake, I'm not really Orek Vael, I'm REALLY Sgt Stoutarm (just as an example). Then I'll disappear into the crowd for a while (using Nobody Here to escape notice if necessary), then find another friend to mimic and repeat.
First person (not counting other Illusionists) to figure out that I'm really Mawaris Madeara gets a 25 silver prize.
I figure between my Acting skill and the bonus from You Got Me I've got a pretty good chance of convincing people I'm the real [whoever]. Also Tailor makes people more inclined to like me.
I'll also randomly cast Assuring Touch on random people at random times in between these exercises, to boost spirits. Figure with the looming threats from the outside, things are a bit on edge in spite of the celebration.
(so for reference, that's matrices of Nobody Here, You Got Me, Tailor, and Assuring Touch for that day)
Mes will help out with Notice Not and casting Relax on people watching the show, to help ease thier mood. Helping them forget what's outside the Kaer.
Mal will spend his day behind the scenes helping out - carrying things, holding things in place and getting people fresh water (Lighten Load, Stick Together, Purify Water).

[glow=red,2,300]Day 4![/glow]
Mes will tour around and enjoy the discussions and shows without really participating. He'd enjoy sitting in on the lectures and picking up a few facts. He might ask a question or 2 at the lectures he attends.
Maw will join the panel of illusionists! The "panel" consists of all Illusionists in the kaer of a particular rank (Novice, Journeyman, etc), all with varying knowledge skills. They accept random questions from the audience on any topic (which the questioner cannot know the answer to; these are perhaps selected either by scholars or by the top ranking illusionists). Two illusionists will answer each question; one is lying, the other is not. Using illusions to illustrate an answer or make it more convincing is fair game (but casting spells that directly influence the questioner are off limits). The questioner must determine who is telling the truth. Whoever the questioner chooses (whether or not they were telling the truth, although they must indicate whether they were telling the truth or not) continues, the other is eliminated. The Illusionists all use Disguise Self (which all 2nd+ circle Illusionists know) to cover up their identities from the questioners so that they won't choose those they know or like. And all are expected to use Dead Fall (which all 3rd+ circle Illusionists know; a 2nd circle illusionist can just fake it without magic) when eliminated, for comedic effect.
The last illusionist standing wins nothing except applause and respect.
Mal will join the local forge in reciting the 16 hour version of a Brief History of the World. With each member taking a section, lowest rank to highest rank.

Mawaris's Dead Fall roll after his elimination: rolls: d6e + d6e Dead Fall => 9 + 5 = 14 A very convincing death! Killed by rhetoric, arggggghhh!

General Effect roll for Tailor roll (WIL+4 = step 10, can influence opinions in my favor): rolls: d8e + d8e Tailor => 6 + 7 = 13 General Acting roll with You Got Me bonus (+6), step 15: rolls: d12e + d6e + d6e Acting => 9 + 4 + 10 = 23 And charisma based half-magic for good measure, for everything else involved with this: rolls: d6e + d6e Half-Magic => 4 + 9 = 13 Wow, nice rolls. But I'm gonna die in the next fight I get into... And I've subtracted the 25 silver for the prize.

Yes! Everyone is just a costumed fairgoer. Including the overly enthusiastic guy dressed as an orc scorcher with the purple halo. I'm lazy with maps!
The platform to our right (stage left?) is a large series of platforms that basically is designed to look like a little mountain! [3 movement to go up a level, although only 2 movement if you make a Dex (6) and 1 movement if you make a dex(8) check.] 2 to go down a level [1 if you make a Dex 6]. To give people a chance to sing from the mountaintops, as it takes their fancy.
You see a man (human) dressed in a cheap dragon costume with his face clearly visible where the "mouth" of the mask is. His arms are also bare . . . but you notice as he reaches the top that his arms appear to be dripping blood!
As he reaches the summit and curios folks start to gather, he pulls a long wavy kris from his belt, stained slightly red, and yells in an unnaturally loud voice at the crowd
"YOU WILL ALL DIE IN A RIVER OF BLOOD AND SUFFERING!"

"YOU WILL ALL DIE IN A RIVER OF BLOOD AND SUFFERING!" Playing along, for now (it is the Theater day, after all, so this may not actually be a guy who's horror possessed; I'm going to outwardly play it as if it is just a dramatic act while we try to determine otherwise). * Mawaris DIES in a river of blood and suffering * Dead Fall roll: rolls: d6e + d6e Dead Fall => 1 + 2 = 3 Not very convincingly I guess (that's the target number for sense and disbelief)... I'll leave the Astral Sight to Mes since I'm probably not in range to use it, but I will use Illusionist Half-Magic to try to figure things out (under the "perceving the 'truth' of a situation" part). I'm trying to figure out if the blood is: a) real b) an illusion or c) faked without magic. rolls: d8e + d6e Half-Magic => 7 + 4 = 11

Whispering to Mes: "That's your cue!" *Takes cue* "Why the Madeara Brothers will save the Kaer Again!" *Takes defensive stance, arms flail and Shield* Continues to look into astral space (round 2 of 4) - step 11: d10d8 (5,6) = 11 (Looking at the threads of the suspected blood magic spell, & if there are any horror marks on the people, especially the Orc Scourcher.) If I've got time, I'll reatune Notice Not for Aura Strike (hopefully, one of my new spells will be worth it) - step 11: d10d8 (6,6) = 12 (Success).
