Here's what I had done a while ago and forgotten about for 20 questions. I never quite finished it. I'll handle the blank ones sometime later when I have time.
20 questions: (in character answers in quotes; also for reference, "Grandfather" means Bonesquisher)
Background: Where is your character from?
Does your character have a family? Not that he knows of. Lost touch with parents and doesn’t know anyone else.
Does your character have an ethnic background? The family is Ukrainian, but moved to the US at some point in the past (before Kaz was born; he's native).
Appearance: What does your character look like? Tall and skinny (for a Troll), young (19 years old)
What does your character dress like? Likes long coats, because he thinks they look cool.
Does your character have physical quirks? “What do you mean, stop fidgeting? If you’d hurry up I wouldn’t have to.” (when bored, fidgets with anything available; knives, other weapons, tools, pens, whatever)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Where did your character learn their Active Skills? “Grandfather taught me how to fight. And he insisted I learn other skills, things he couldn’t teach. For one, he was absolutely insistent that any REAL troll must learn how to fly [pilot: aircraft] and how to land [parachuting].”
Where did your character learn their knowledge Skills? “Grandfather taught me some ancient history, stuff you can’t learn in any book unless you find a dragon’s library. But he’s the real expert on that. I studied real hard to learn about Archaeology too; its just like what Grandfather was talking about, except much more recent. Oh and I know a little about magic rituals, at least enough to summon Grandfather.”
Where did your character get his goodies? “If I told you that, I’d have to kill you. HA! I’ve always wanted to say that. No, but seriously, I can’t tell you that, a lot of this stuff is illegal and you know how those guys are…” (i.e., mostly purchased from Talismonger and Fixer contacts).
Where does your character live? Shares an apartment with Antonio, as well as a motorcycle with sidecar. Spends a lot of time hanging out at the warehouse.
Who are your character's contacts? Spirit of Bonesquisher, aka Grandfather. Spirit of a long dead legendary (or so he claims, but everyone has forgotten that history) Troll Warrior Adept. Connections 1 (may know a few other spirits and other family, but that’s about it), Loyalty 6 (he’s family!). Trainer for Adept powers and close combat. Would have knowledge of ancient (Earthdawn era) history, as well as magical lore relating to adepts, adept powers, and ancient artifacts from that era.
Talismonger
Armourer - LANCE Vides
Who are your character's enemies (any known)? None known
How did your character learn magic/awaken? “I found this old family artifact when I was about 8. (What? No, no you can’t see it.) There was a flash, and suddenly I wasn’t alone. That’s when I first met Grandfather. He taught me everything I know.”
Personality: What are your character's likes/dislikes?
What is your character's moral code? Don't be the first to use lethal force, and avoid killing metahumans unless unavoidable.
Does your character have goals? Kaz is still figuring that out. He's very young and doesn't know what to do with himself yet.
Does your character have personal beliefs?
Does your character have personality quirks? Friendly and cheerful, but in a way that just doesn't feel right, as if it must be faked (charisma 2). But when he tries to be intimidating that doesn't work either.
Running the Shadows: Why does your character run the shadows? “For Adventure! Excitement! And hey, fighting evil is a good thing too, right?”
How does your character view his role as a shadowrunner? Kaz knows he's the muscle. He tries to be helpful when his knowledge or other skills apply, but stays in the background when it comes to negotiating and planning.

Merry Christmas!
For Christmas, Antonio bought Kaz a full set of Securetech PPP (the more concealable kind that can be worn under clothing). Tailored, Softweaved.
Securetech PPP details: Helmet: +0/+2 [For use in sparring/training, not nearly as good as a real helmet for combat.] Leg and Armor Casings (+1/+1) or (+0/+1 if only wearing one or the other) Forearm Guards (+0/+1) Shin Guards (+0/+1) Vitals Protector (+1/+1)
Stacks with all other worn armor.

Downtime activities, after 1/5/12 session:
Having not been discussed recently, I assume we aren't yet forming the magical group, so I'll continue to hold off on initiating.
So in the meantime, I want to find a Krav Maga trainer if possible, and purchase another rank of Martial Arts to get that plus a couple more maneuvers. Sweep for sure (mostly as a way of being able to do stun damage with my axe), and probably Disarm for my second, but also considering Throw and Break Weapon. That'll be 18 karma.
Let me know if I should roll anything for this. If I can't get a trainer for this yet, I'll just have Bonesquisher train me again and just go for more Blade DV.
Next up, since Kaz failed as a troll and didn't know how to be intimidating, he's going to try to learn the Intimidate skill. I expect Bonesquisher probably has some pointers on this, so I'll start by talking to him (but technically he is only a trainer for close combat). Then I'll spend some time hanging out with our good friends, the local gangers. I don't particularly have any interest in "practicing" on any civilians (and I'll make this clear that I won't do that and that I'm not actually working for them), but I'd be happy to help out with their rivals. This will be 4 more karma.
With only a charisma of 2, Kaz is very bad at this. He's generally friendly and cheerful, so his best bet at being intimidating is accidentally or by someone else using him as an example. Intimidation practice probably goes something like this:
Kaz: "HI! I'M A BIG INTIMIDATING TROLL! ARE YOU INTIMIDATED YET?" *grins broadly* *Dogmen facepalm* *Rival ganger is more confused than intimidated* Dogman: "Uh, don't make him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry." *Kaz's grin widens* *Rival ganger is intimidated*
While I'm at it, I'd also like to improve loyalty on the Dogmen group contact (loyalty 1 contact just makes me too nervous, and this seems like a good opportunity). Figure I'm being friendly and helpful, so they improve from being purely business to having a somewhat friendly opinion of us.

For the Trainer:
Say, availability 8. If you want a live instructor it'll cost instruction skill x 1,500$. (You need to succeed at a Intuition + Agility (5,1month) test to learn the style & the instructor's dice will add to that test (Per the instruction rules). If you just want a tutorsoft, let Kurt know... and he may be able to find a pirated one for you (Rx100$) [can't learn manuever's from the tutorsoft, just the style].
Availability tests are made as described on p302 SR4. (Don't forget your street cred). (Negotiation + CHA + street cred) 2 day test.

Most of Kaz's past training has been done with DEAD instructors, but he'd still prefer a live instructor over the tutorsoft (even though the tutorsoft is a LOT cheaper). So I'll go with that and if that falls through then I'll try to find a tutorsoft. Even though I can't learn maneuvers that way, I can presumably still learn the maneuvers from Bonesquisher (which I would prefer to do anyway if possible; anytime I can use him as my trainer I will).
Rating 3 live instructor is the best I can afford without burning ALL of my money (could go 4, but I wouldn't have much money left), so I'll go with that.
Negotiation 0, Charisma 2, Street Cred 6 (!), so I roll 8 dice.
rolls: 8sr4 Availability try 1 => sr4(8) = Hits: 1 Ones: 1 Results: 4 3 4 3 5 4 1 2 rolls: 8sr4 Availability try 2 => sr4(8) = Hits: 6 Ones: 1 Results: 1 5 6 6 6 6 4 5 rolls: 8sr4 Availability try 3 => sr4(8) = Hits: 5 Ones: 1 Results: 3 6 6 6 6 3 6 1
So if I'm understanding the rules correctly it will take me 6 days to find a trainer. Also I appear to have just burned all my luck for next gaming session. Check out out those 6's!
Intuition 4, Agility 5, Instructor Rating 3, so 12 dice to learn. rolls: 12sr4 Learning => sr4(12) = Hits: 2 Ones: 5 Results: 1 2 4 1 1 5 1 4 4 1 2 5 rolls: 12sr4 Learning => sr4(12) = Hits: 6 Ones: 3 Results: 1 6 1 1 5 5 3 5 6 4 3 5
So looks like that is the next two months of my downtime. So I would assume this will not yet be learned by the next adventure (or two, or more).
If this delays my activity trying to learn Intimidation and improve the gang contact, then those are less important.
Actually, how much time has passed since the start of the campaign? I don't think I've ever deducted anything from my pre-purchased months of rent.

At Antonio's urging, I'll also be having my Armourer friend apply rating 6 Fire Resistance to my lined coat, for 600, and rating 3 (don't want to break the bank) nonconductivity (electrical resistance) to my form-fitting armor, for 600 more. 1200 total.

Was Kaz ever in a Gang? (And if not, how was he able to avoid it?)

Was Kaz ever in a Gang? (And if not, how was he able to avoid it?) No. Or at least, not until he joined Max's gang And I'm thinking here's why not: in one of our adventures, I tried to approach members of some gang to converse about something, and I glitched on the charisma roll and they thought I was part of their rival gang? I figure that's what ALWAYS happens to Kaz. Gangers always think he must be part of a rival gang (a big scary troll, he must already be working for someone else, right?), so they don't even bother to try to recruit him. Also, Grandfather would probably be opposed to Kaz joining a gang unless they were at least semi-dogooderish (like Max's gang). He's training me to be a great adept, after all, not just some thug.

Well, Kaz can auto success etiquette, so I would that glitch is probably more of a fluke than anything else. The neighboorhood gang would have known if Kaz was with a different gang (or theirs). Its their turf, they would take interest in the big troll that knows how to fight. Is it more of a "Granpa said it was a bad idea, so I tried to stay out of the situation (kept busy), and when that didn't work I fought (intimidated) my way out" kinda thing?

I guess I'm looking for where your character is from, trying to flesh out some of the background (likes/dislikes, beliefs, etc)...
I'm trying to work on some runs that bring in charater's backstories, and seeing how that'll go.

Joel, what is Kaz currently working on improving? You've got 112 karma to spend by my count. Is there anything I should be working on for a story to enable an explanation (paying off Bad Luck, or Sensitive System)?

Currently training Krav Maga, which takes two months total (I think it's about halfway through). Once that is done I'll initiate and such.

Is there any reason that you want to wait to initiate? [You don't have to wait for Krav Maga to be complete to initiate, nor to work on other skills]
